PFM

PFM, or porcelain fused to metal, crowns and bridges are a timeless and standard restoration due to their high rate of clinical success. PFM crowns are offered in High Noble, Noble, and Base Metal Alloys. The metal provides flexible stability and strength while the bonded porcelain provides the hardness, color, contour, and function. These traits mimic the performance and esthetics of dentin and enamel in natural dentition. PFM can be used for crowns, bridges (up to 14 units), and in conjunction with cast partials or implants. They are not recommended for patients with a metal allergy or if the clinical tooth crown is very short, lacking 3mm ferrule for crown retention.
A shoulder prep is not needed, a mild chamfer or feather edge margins is adequate. For buccal, lingual, and occlusal reduction 1mm is ideal, but can go 0.5mm in some areas where further reduction is needed.
Zeus Full Zirconia can be cemented using resin reinforced glass ionomer such as RelyX Luting cement. For maximum bond strength, use resin cement like RelyX Ultimate, Panavia V5 or Multilink Automix. Before delivery to your office, the interior surface of all zirconia crowns are cleaned with Ivoclean and disinfected ready for insertion.
If adjustments are needed, use zirconia specific diamonds and wheels with diamond paste. Adjust full-contour zirconia crowns and bridges using fine diamond burrs, water and air spray to keep restoration cold and to avoid microfractures. Restorations can be polished with Brasseler Dialite system or similar substitutes. For a high shine, you can use Ziocon-Brite from DVA with stiff bristle brush or similar substitutes.
